Beach Scenes Near Jenner, CA  (View Photos)
November 25, 2006

This was a day exploring beaches along the Sonoma County coast line. While checking out Goat Rock beach just south of the Russian River we noticed this beach (Unnamed) just north of Jenner and decided it would be a good location for sunset shots. We weren't disappointed.
Fall Color Photo Shoot in Eastern Sierras and White Mountains
October 3 - 8, 2006

Fall Colors were just peaking in some areas of the eastern Sierras during this 6-day photo shoot with fellow photographer Randy Smith. Other areas were still weeks away and some had already gone directly to brown. Mono Lake was spectacular as always. For me, the real highlight of the trip was our day among the ancient Bristlecone Pines in the White Mountains. These beautiful ancient trees were simply awe inspiring.

These images were shot throughout the Eastern Sierras - Hope Valley, Monitor Pass, Sonora Pass, and the Bishop Creek area
    Bristlecone Pine Shots  (View Photos)
These images were taken at both the Schulman and Patriarch Groves in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. Elevation in this area of the White Mountains was between 10,000' at Schuman and 11,500' at Patriarch.

This was a 1-day trip to Lassen Volcanic National Park in Northern California. It was also my first time to this area. The hikes were led by Paul Cyphert aka the goat. We first hiked to Bumpass Hell to see the thermal pools and mud pots. Then after lunch we headed for Lassen Peak.
Backpack to American lake in Desolation Wilderness    (View Photos)  (View map of hike)
July 21 - 23, 2006
This was a 3-day backpack trip from Echo Lake to the American Lake in Desolation Wilderness. Absolutely beautiful!!! The weather was unusually warm for the high Sierra and we had rain and thunderstorms nearby the first night. Still a lot of snow and standing water in the area.

Photo Shoot and Hike on Big Sur Coast    (View Photos)
June 25 - 26, 2006
I drove down to Monterey to visit Bryan and go on a hike along the Bluff Trail at Andrew Molera State Park. The next day I spent the morning at Point Lobos State Reserve for some fantastic scenery shots in the typical summer coastal fog. Great wildflowers!

June 18 - 20, 2006
This was a quick visit to Yosemite to join Karyn and Rick (my daughter and son-in-law) for a hike around the Panorama Trail. Of course, I had to get in a few photo shoots in the valley during the early mornings and evenings.

This was a docent lead hike the the Sacramento Valley Conservancy Deer Creek area near Rancho Murietta. This is a great time of year to be in the foothills, before it gets too hot.
Photo Shoot and Snowshoeing at Carson Pass    (View Photos)
April 29, 2006
This is a photo shoot I like to do several times a year. The old trees and views from Carson Pass are absolutely wonderful. The trees' personalities seem to change with the seasons.

Yosemite Valley Winter Photo Shoot and Snowshoe    (View Photos)    (View snowshoe map)
February 22 - 24, 2006
This was a photo shoot I have been looking forward to since my summer photo shoot in the valley. Yosemite is so much more photogenic in the winter. Snowshoeing to Dewey Point (7.89 miles) was fantastic.
Snowshoe Hike to Donner Summit    (View Photos)
January 15, 2006
Another fun snowshoe hike led by Paul Cyphert. We started from the Sugar Bowl parking area and hiked straight up to the summit. Several feet of fresh new powder made for very enjoyable snowshoeing.
